Timberland brings the Boat Shoe silhouette back into focus, and it looks better than ever
Timberland’s new Spring/Summer campaign brings attention back to one of those styles that never really went out of fashion, it was simply waiting for the right moment to make a major comeback.
This time, at the center of the story is the iconic Boat Shoe, presented through the recognizable 3-Eye, 2-Eye and Stone Street models, which combine the brand’s heritage with contemporary style and aesthetics.
The campaign was shot on the coast of Naples, at the authentic Cantieri Aprea shipyard, a place known for restoring traditional wooden boats. Among working docks, worn wood and handcrafted vessels, Timberland creates an atmosphere that perfectly reflects the DNA of the collection itself: durability, functionality and respect for craftsmanship.
The visuals, shot by Paul Hempstead, feel like a blend of a fashion campaign and a Mediterranean lifestyle editorial. Here, boat shoes do not look archived or retro, on the contrary, they feel completely natural within contemporary outfits that combine relaxed tailoring, quality jackets and laid-back silhouettes.
The model that started it all, the 3-Eye Lug Handsewn Boat Shoe, was first introduced back in 1978, when Timberland combined a rugged sole with a handsewn leather upper and created a shoe that works just as well on deck as it does in the city. A year later came the 2-Eye Lug Boat Shoe, with a sole adapted to conditions on the water. Decades later, the key details remain the same: brass eyelets, rawhide laces, premium leather and handsewn construction that gains character over time instead of losing quality.
In addition to the iconic boat shoe models, the new collection also brings pieces inspired by the American coastal aesthetic: waterproof jackets, oversized rugby polo shirts, denim jackets with corduroy collars and relaxed silhouettes that balance outdoor functionality with urban styling. Everything feels like a wardrobe for a summer spent between the city and the coast, practical, understated and timeless enough to last for years.
With a campaign that feels more like a visual moodboard of contemporary Mediterranean life than a classic fashion editorial, Timberland confirms that boat shoes are once again among the key styles of the season. Not as a passing trend, but as a classic that keeps coming back and feels more relevant every time.
