MARCIANO GUESS SPRING/SUMMER 2015 COLLECTION

LA CONFIDENTIAL The colors, attitude and relaxed elegance of springtime Los Angeles inspire a mood filled with sleek mono-chromatics mixed with softer 70s elements for a super-foxy look. Key patterns include geometric prints, linear fine box checks and textural surface stripes, along with a Deep Ocean Flower fantasy. The color palette extends from Midnight purple, Grape mist, Baby Pink and Rhapsody lilac to Pop yellow, jet black, optical white and smoky gray. Fabrics offer a vast selection of textured, doubled and slinky knits, draping, heavy tencel cottons, as well as new variations on classic tweed. Platinum and white gold details provide a perfect finish to the garments. Outerwear for the early part of the season includes a classic stretch nappa leather jacket, while the trench coat is revived in soft, relaxed shapes. The look is predominantly 70s thanks the use of blazer and shirt dresses, double breasted blazers, slim-fit flared and wide legged pants and short suits which are present throughout the season. Playful yet always elegant, a jumpsuit and structured culottes provide easy to wear pieces, while hems on A-line skirts and pencil skirt are mid-length and look fabulous paired with voluminous wrap blouses and wrapped and draped knits. LA NOIR The city is Los Angeles after dark and the setting is a party in a modern villa in the Hollywood Hills. The atmosphere, glamour and lights and a touch of the dark side inspire looks perfect for the night and daring for day where high octane, 90s sportswear attitude is combined with voluminous, sheer and always chic elements. The color palette is essential, using jet black, optical white and smoke grey as a base with contrasts provided by powerful spring crocus and hot coral, key shades created for the exclusive Beverly Hills Blossom floral print, as well as delicate apricot peach in a geometric print called Mulholland at Midnight. Delicate white gold trims adorn the different styles, along with sportswear fastenings, metal trims, cut-outs and sheer and opaque paneling, while drawstrings and shoestring straps detail the looks. The focus is on evening wear with use of iridescent, shiny satins, touches of metallic and glam croc-print leather, contrasted by sporty airtex and mesh for shirt and body-con dresses, blousons and soft fit suit. Pencil skirts and skinny track pants are paired with v-neck and cowl back blouses and knits, blouson jackets and a blouson trench. PALM SPRINGS WEEKEND A city break to the desert oasis of Palm Springs and late 60s and early 70s embellishments inspire a relaxed summer look. The color palette is decidedly mid-century with unusual tones such as dragon fly green, blue bird blue, hot coral, optical white and the leit motiv of the entire collection smoke gray. Details incorporate pleats and sheer and transparent, laser cuts and soft rouching effects, along with abstract metal and gemstone encrusted applications. White on white detailing, as well as touches of feathers are also key. An exotic combination of Orchid and Palm leaves compose the predominant print and fabrics are rich and luxurious blending fresh linen, pique and textured whites with metallic and pearl coatings, guipure lace, georgette, washed silks, sateen and chiffon, as well as silk for the refined knits. Key looks offer combinations of mini-skirts and soft, loose-fit pants with kaftans or flowing dresses for a truly relaxed and always elegant look.
