DIESEL CELEBRATES 30 YEARS IN JAPAN

Diesel celebrates 30 years in Japan on September 6th with a landmark fashion event comprising an archive exhibition, see-now-buy-now catwalk show, brand project with Terry Richardson and special ready-to-wear collaborations, exclusively available in Japan. It’s a night – and a party – to remember, fusing pop and the underground, Italy and Tokyo, and the accelerated, digital viewpoint of artistic director Nicola Formichetti. “Japan is where I was born and it has always played a prominent role in my creative pro-cess, being a constant source of inspiration, a huge part of who I am,” explains Formi-chetti, who is himself half Japanese, half Italian – and champions a hybrid culture through his work. “Celebrating 30 amazing years of Diesel in Japan is a match made in heaven, I can’t wait.” For one night only, our purpose-built Diesel underground station is the place to be. Fans, international press, actors, musicians, artists and Instagram heroes will celebrate the past, the present and the future of Diesel in a unique hyper-modern environment. Beginning with a rare opportunity to experience the brand’s heritage up-close, artistic di-rector Nicola Formichetti has curated an exhibition of archive Diesel looks from 1978 to today. 160906_2377Hitting the catwalk, Diesel’s high-energy Autumn/Winter 2016 collection mixes rock, den-im, military and sport influences. Go online to experience Tokyo from a unique model per-spective and shop the looks before the runway show begins, streamed live on http://forsuccessfulliving.diesel.com/. A series of Japan-only collections are also released: bias-cut denim and Jogg jeans utility wear, as well as collaborations with cult menswear designer N. HOOLYWOOD and Yuko Koike, recipient of the OTB award at Diesel talent showcase ITS 2015. These pieces are available online, in-store, and through our special Isetan Tokyo pop-up. The evening culminates in a premiere of exhibition #forsuccessfulliving, Diesel’s upcoming project with audacious fashion photographer Terry Richardson. A series of 50 motivational phrases relating to the Diesel philosophy, each #forsuccessfulliving visual is a tip from us to you about living well, staying true and doing things differently. After Tokyo, the #forsuccessfulliving exhibition will travel worldwide, landing in Shanghai, London, Milan and New York before 2017.
